Truth about Like For Like Quotes
Exposing the secrets of the double glazing industry.
Many double-glazing firms advertise that they will ‘beat any like-for-like quote,’ meaning that if you get a cheaper quote elsewhere, they will ensure to lower their quote to beat it. For customers, this sounds like a great deal – but is it as good as it sounds?
The issue is that it is difficult, if not impossible, to get a quote that is identical to obtain this offer. For example, if a company makes part of its own products (such as the frame or glass) or has an exclusive contract with a specific manufacturer, the offers will not be the same. It could be as small an issue as the handles on the windows are slightly different. This means that you will be ineligible for a like-for-like quote.
Many companies claim that they beat like-for-like quotes but can avoid doing so using the tricks listed above. They do this because it encourages customers to inquire about their services, allowing them into your home to try and sell you their products. As the products that they offer cannot be directly compared with others, it is a possibility that they will be overpriced, resulting in the customer not getting the best deal.
If you are shopping for new windows, beware of like-for-like quotes as they are not what they seem.
