Project Overview
PT Glazing was appointed to manufacture, supply, and install a complete aluminium glazing package for a new residential extension at a private home in South Ayrshire. The client was undertaking a modern extension to enhance living space and wanted high-performance aluminium glazing that would maximise natural light while delivering excellent thermal efficiency and a premium finish.
Our team provided a full end-to-end service, manufacturing all systems in-house before completing the installation to the highest standard.
Project Scope
This project formed part of a newly constructed extension designed to create a bright, open-plan living area with strong connections to the outdoor space. The glazing specification focused on achieving very low U-values, slim sightlines, and a consistent modern aesthetic throughout.
Installation Included:
- X1 five-leaf aluminium bifold door
- X1 aluminium sliding patio door
- X2 fixed aluminium windows
- X1 tilt and turn window
All systems were manufactured and installed by PT Glazing as a complete package.
Design & Finish
A contemporary aluminium finish was selected to complement the modern extension and existing property. All items were finished in textured grey, providing a durable and stylish appearance that works seamlessly with both interior and exterior design.
Black hardware was specified throughout to create a clean, coordinated finish across all windows and doors, enhancing the modern aesthetic of the extension.
Bifold Door Installation
A five-leaf aluminium bifold door was installed as the main feature of the extension, opening up the living space and creating a seamless connection to the garden area.

The slim profiles and large glazed panels allow natural light to flood the extension while maintaining excellent thermal performance and security.
Sliding Patio Door
An aluminium sliding patio door was also installed to provide additional access and views to the exterior. Designed with performance and durability in mind, the sliding system offers smooth operation and long-term reliability alongside strong thermal efficiency.
Windows
The extension included two fixed aluminium windows and one tilt and turn window, all manufactured to bespoke sizes. The tilt and turn system provides flexible ventilation options while maintaining high levels of security and insulation.
All glazing throughout the project was triple glazed and engineered to achieve very low U-values, ensuring excellent thermal performance and year-round comfort.
Energy Efficiency & Performance
Energy efficiency was a key requirement for the new extension. All installed products were triple glazed and manufactured to meet very low U-value targets, helping to reduce heat loss and improve overall home efficiency.
